Toy Hall of Fame

Photobucket

Okay! Ya'll caught me here in Nashville on a cold rainy day. I am sittin here readin my favorite book by B.K. Connelly. "Everything's coming up Sock Monkeys!" What else does one do on a rainy day? Now,ya'll might want ta be careful askin a Sock Monkey this question cause I just might tell ya. Upon wakin up this mornin,The Toy Hall of Fame was on my mine. I thought to myself,"I wonder if the Sock monkey was ever added." So durin my mornin coffee,I went online to check it out. Did not find a listin! I was shocked beyond belief! We Sock Monkeys have been invented since the early 30's when the red heel sock was invented. I believe it's been 77 years! Don't we rate? Raggedy Anne got in and she was a homespun creation as well. I quickly clicked the "Nominate" button! Just as pretty as you please! I'm not ashamed! I'm proud to be a Sock Monkey with style! Sure I've taken off my Tux and tails, but a celeb has the right to relax.
So here I am faced with the Nomination form to fill out and submit. Ya'll won't believe my Sock Monkey fingers were typin so fast they couldn't keep up with my Sock Monkey thoughts!!! Fast and furious it all spilled out onto the screen! Like it was magic flowin out of my fingers. So there ya have it! We Sock Monkeys have been nominated for The Toy Hall of Fame! Great way ta start off the New Year! Let 2009 be the year of the Sock Monkey! I know ya'll are sittin there wonderin,"Why didn't I think of that?" It's as plain as the nose on your face! That's what-cha got Bubba for! And I'm proud ta be there. This is an issue that needs ta be resolved immediately! This cannot be allowed to continue! I left my phone number there in hopes they would call me and give me the good news! Now we sit back and wait...Just as we did for No more drama in 2009! It's my turnnnn!
Photobucket

So sittin here with my resolution button on....I look down and it says Sock Monkey of the year on it. The tears welled up in my eyes,my buttons were a blir! Never have I felt such emotion come over me. I Bubba was standin there with my rod and staf out ready to march forward! I had ta have just a little drama. So little OPPS! There it goes! I have taken a stand and it lifts my soul up out of the darkness to see a new day! And there, standin in the mist of the fog was my Friend Mike! The bestest Human anyone could ever have! BFF's that no one has ever seen!!!!!!!

My notes one the subject will hopefully lift your spirits and make ya'll's Tuesday The best Tuesday ya'll ever had. Bubba

To be more Fabulous

Photobucket

So.....The holidays are over and the New Year has rung itself in. So what does one do after that? Ya sit on the stairs of life and wonder what wonderful things are about to commence. Got your favorite Sock Monkey mug from the Sock Monkey museum and it's full of coffee for thinkin! Let the caffiene swirl around your brain and embrace the energy it gives us to get our day started.

The cloud cover over head is left over from last nights rain. Brought colder temps. It has been pretty warm up until now. The mouse in the attic gets very active in the mornin hours. We have already caught four mice in traps in the kitchen. Poison pellets have been spread around the attic in attempts to get this one as well. Riddex Plus (as seen on TV) has been ordered and is on it's way. Plug it in and it's suppose to do the rest! No bugs,no mice,no rats are the claims this contraption makes. I will keep you posted on it's progress as we go along. Now if it would just come in the mail so we could get started.

Photobucket

Mike's job handed out New Years resolution buttons and they are suppose to write their resolution on it. Mike simply wrote on his "To be more Fabulous". Plain and simple enough. I hope ya'll can be more fabulous in your lives as the new week begins! Bubba

The trash around us

Photobucket

Good mornin here on the third day of the new year 2009! There are so many people in my life that love diggin around on the front and back lawn for a world of conversation! So I picked this little number up just yesterday. Twas out back. Thought I'd be the first one ta start off the latest trash talk! Could be a new trend for me here bloggin! We love found objects that quickly find their way into our hearts and become something other than what they were originally intended for. The artist in me tells me this little broken handled mug could turn into a place to wash out brushes after a night of paintin! No drama in 2009! It's my turn! Practice what-cha preach I always say! Put ya'll's money where your mouth is! Put up or shut up!

Photobucket

Look what came by way of UPS yesterday! Wwwoooooo-wwhhooo!! We have TV once again! The old one broke down! Had ta wait for the funds to come along! This year is gonna be bigger and better! The blessins have already started comin in! And what a welcome sight they are for my Sock Monkey eyes!

Good evenin of the first day

Photobucket

Howdy Possum's! Hope ya'll have enjoyed our holiday festivities. I was glad ta share them with ya'll. I tried ta host my New years eve party for ya'll last night, but we experienced technical difficulties. Sorry for that. We have now worked out the kinks. I had a big bash planned last night. Our Jpeg sizer was actin up and prevented us from continuin with our blog broadcast.
Photobucket

Now we can only reflect back over the past year and hope any mistakes we made we can only learn from and move on. Let bye gones be bye gones. Let's all look toward the future and do whatever it takes for us to make that happen. In a good lovin way. We must all try and get along as God intended us to do. We must all embrace the friendships we have made, keep your enemies close and run like hell when they look at you weird! And that's exactly what we plan ta do!

Photobucket

I purposely saved the pumpkin this year so's we could have some fun mixin the holidays up. It gave Mike and myself somethin ta do with each other taday! Tryin ta be original with our celebrations and to always have fun and laugh. Mike always tries ta smile at whom ever is walkin by and to embrace ya'll for who you are. Don't worry,be happy! He and I have tried our best to live by this moto in 2008. It worked for pretty much most of the time. We did encounter one strange person and we did not know how to even be around this person,so we have choosen for 2009,that we will only smile and say hello if presented with their presence. End of story.

To the ladies!

Stop and smell the roses in 2009! It will only make your life better. Take time ta notice the small things, for they may never be presented to you again. Try not ta miss the important things. It's the small things that make life worth livin! Live life to the fullest! Life is a precious gift when God breathed life into our lungs in the beginnin. Hold onto it with all you've got! Stop tryin ta be in control. Let go and let God. He will take you to where ya'll need to be if ya let him. Ya'll can fight it all ya want, but sometimes he's gonna take ya there anyway. This past year has been a great year for Mike and myself. He has a fantastic job he loves dearly and no one is gonna get in his way or ruin the joy he has when he's there. He works with wonderful people he is proud to know and hope we can all be the best we can be in 2009! Mike works with four young ladies that are the most wonderful artist he's ever met in his entire life. He hand choose them and has given any wisdom in the cake world he can offer them to make them the best damn cake decorators they can be and they have truely been a joy in his life. Yes, he has pushed them only because he knows they are the best! The compliments have spoken for themselves. He has been glad to share with them. Cause it has taken the four of us to pull together as a team and make it happen. Ladies,2009 can only get better! Mike takes his hat off to ya'll! He thanks ya'll for bein in his life!
Photobucket

The snow has yet to come here in Nashville. It comes around Feb./This is a photo from last year. This is Mike's car covered.

Photobucket

Mike and I will be there with the camera again! We love to play with our digital camera! Love sharin our fun with our readers! Pictures can speak a thuosand words and tell many stories.
Photobucket

Let the snow angels of life make ya smile. Like we said before it's the small things in life that matter. No one can change your path but you. The challenge is ta git up and not leave footsteps as you walk away from the snow angel. That can only happen when a friend helps you. A true friend will help you achieve this and the both of ya'll will marvel at your success!

Photobucket

Stop and catch a snowflake on your tongue and marvel at the miracle that they even exist! If ya looked at them under a microscope, they are a work of art! Very beautiful!
Photobucket

Encourage the cake decorator workin next to ya on the table of life ta make an owl because she saw it in your house. May it inspire her work! That's what it was put there ta do. The real challenge? How many forms of the owl can you produce and amaze us each and every time? Work it girl! There has been so many times Mike's journal has been an inspiration to those around him. Did ya ever once stop and think God has guided you there? Maybe it's ya'll that have somethin ta learn. There are so many that hide out in the alley and come in the back door of life because they are afraid to face the front life has ta offer. There are some who claim ta be the preachers of the good Lords word and fail at every turn. Maybe the one pushin you is teachin you and not the task you think is in front of you. Things aren't always what they seem and we are all on a journey. We may not agree with what is before us,but the higher powers that be works in mysterious ways. The journey you may have thought you were on may suddenly be wiped away! You may find yourself somewhere that only taught you somethin and no one else. Creation can be a marvelous and wonderful thing if ya take the time ta stop and listen. God may not talk to us in a burin bush as he once did,but stop and listen for he is all around us! He will tell you where ya need ta be.

Photobucket

Stop and eat a piece of watermelon! And think,Hey! It's my turn! No more Drama in 2009! Practice what ya preach! Maybe that was the words God wanted you to hear and nobody else. Did ya ever stop and think about that? Drama shows it's head in many forms. You may find yourself talkin to the air in the privacy of your own livin room. Thinkin your alone. Sometimes there are people listenin that shouldn't be there. They can be the ones that bring that drama even when you've never spoke of these things to another livin person. Mike and I don't question anymore. It's their Journey that God may have them in your life to teach them somethin. Let go and Let God! We step aside and let God do his work.

Photobucket

This is only a small portion of where we are in the universe! We cannot even imagine how big it all is! We are only a speck of dust compared to the vastness in this great big light show! Be the best ya'll can be in 2009! Let go and let God! Bubba

Traditions

Read about some of the most popular traditions and customs of New Year's Day. Most of these traditions are very old and are still observed with great excitement. Check these out! New Year ResolutionsA well-known new year tradition is the making of New Year's resolutions, that is making resolutions on New Year's Day (to improve oneself or do something good) and try to fulfill it. It is believed that the early Babylonians were the first to start this tradition and ever since, people all over the world have been making and breaking New Year Resolutions. Even the early Christians believed that the first day of the year should be spent reflecting on past mistakes and resolving to improve oneself in that year. But most find this hard to stick to. With time, the resolutions have also changed. While the early Babylonian's most popular resolution was to return borrowed farm equipment, people today resolve to lose weight, quit smoking or stop drinking alcohol. New Year FireworksIt is impossible to imagine a New Year celebration without the usual midnight fireworks. The Chinese are credited with inventing fireworks and it is they who are believed to have used them first in their New Year's celebrations with spectacular effect. As a result, noisemaking and fireworks - which were primitively thought to dispel evil spirits and bring good luck, began to be used on New Year's eve for celebration purposes. Depending on the country, individuals may be allowed to burn fireworks on New Year's Eve, even if it is forbidden the rest of the year.New Year FoodsFeasting is an all important part of New Year celebrations and certain foods are thought to bring good luck if eaten on New Year Eve. Traditional Good Luck foods on New Year are considered to be all those goodies that come in circular or ring-like shapes, for such shapes are believed to symbolize "coming full circle," or a complete year's cycle. It is mainly because of this that the Dutch eat donuts and pretzels on New Year's Day. Legumes with ham is said to bring in luck and prosperity in many regions of US. Black-eyed peas and cabbage have also been supposed to be the potential harbingers of good fortune in many cultures. Cabbage leaves are said to bring in paper currency. In many places, people prepare dishes and put beans and black-eyed peas in it. In the New Year Feast, the person who gets them while dining is supposed to be the luckiest person at the table who will be the ward of Lady Luck and Lady Fortune throughout the year. The tradition originated in southern US. In some regions, rice is thought to be a lucky New Year food. New Year ParadeAnother popular tradition is the New Year Parade. In the United States, one of the most famous parades is the Tournament of Roses held in Pasadena, CA on New Year's Eve. The parade dates back to 1886 when members of the Valley Hunt Club decorated their carriages with flowers to celebrate the ripening of the orange crop in California. Gradually the flower-decked carriages gave way to floats. According to parade rules, the floats can be covered only with fresh flowers. New Year BabyGenerally, Old Year is shown as a very old man in rags, with a white beard and a stick while New Year is represented as a new smiling baby in diapers. The tradition of using a baby to signify the new year began in Greece around 600 BC. The ancient Grecians celebrated their New Year by putting a baby in a basket and showing it to everyone. They believed that this act represented the annual rebirth of their god of wine, Dionysus, as the spirit of fertility. But the Grecians were not the only ones, even the early Egyptians used a newborn as a symbol of rebirth. Later, even Christians took on the practice, though the baby for them symbolized the birth of the baby Jesus. In America, the tradition was brought by the Germans. Today, you can find an image of a baby with a New Year banner being used as a new year symbol in America.
