Howdy ya'll
Good afternoon Possums! Sittin here with my bean bags. Really craft beads to use the same way as we did beans back in the 60's. Little round plastic pellets. Bean bags that will be here for hundreds of years! Antique bean bags one day. Bean bags can be a really cool thing. Mike's been jugglin them,or tryin to anyway. He made several other bean bags last night.
Here they all together. Don't ya'll love the bright colors? Think Geek! Collect a bean bag! LOL! We were just having fun last night. I'm sure there will be many conversations bout that subject. That'll make all the more fun!
Batman shot! Like in the olden days with Adam West. POW! BAM! PUNCH! LOL! A mere flashback Possums. We baby boomers are screwed up people.

Last day continued
So what does one do on the last afternoon of your vacation? Well....there are those of us whom have a box full of monkey socks in the house. We decided ta see what we could come up with. playin with the socks I mean. Mike bein the artist he is,always comes up with somethin pretty cool. The sun is shinin today, but still really cold out. Suppose to get down in the 20's tonight. Which brings us back to our original topic.
I think this should become an indoor sport! An artist challenge,if ya will. Kind of a fun thing ta do on a cold day. Why do it ya'll ask? It's all bout the photograph! Useless information. Usin an artful eye and a good digital camera.
Dear old Nelson never knew his socks have been most famous since they created the knittin machine back in the 1800's.
This one makes me look like I'm in a crowd of Sock Monkeys. Like on the streets of New York or somethin. Use ya'll imaginations. Do ya see it now....?
That's how we work the day away in the merry old land of OZ.We've all heard the song before. It's always a horse of a different color.
Tip toe throught the monkey socks! Bubba
Monkey business
Good Mornin Possum's! It's the last day of Mike's vacation. Sorry ta say he has to return to work tomorrow. A good time was had by all durin his 8 days off. Been really cold out and it was great we didn't have to get out in it. Stayin home where its warm and let the bloggin flow. Got a nice cup of coffee ta go along with it. A hot bubble bath brewin in the upstairs bathroom. Now that's livin!
Time for ya'll ta pay attention again. Here is a little Teddy Bear Mike is gonna restore. This is the before picture. A Panda Teddy from the 50's. Now,Mike and I were both thinkin that this dirty lookin tannish fur was suppose ta be white and probably was in the beginnin. Not true! Mike washed him two time yesterday and even with a fingernail scrub brush. The fur really is tan. That was a shocker.
He's been loved and loved! So we'll see how he ends up turnin out in the weeks ta come. Then he will join the ranks of Mike's Teddy Bear collection.
On the fashion side of things.....A new Sock Monkey dress design has been created. Thought ya'll might want ta see it. I'm surprised this hasn't been a challenge on Project Runway. The Sock Monkey challenge. Far be it for me ta say so. I'm just a mild mannered southern Sock Monkey. I'll leave the runnin of Project Runway to the experts.
Jane Goodall has been in the Sock Monkey news here of late. She autographed one of us Sock Monkeys and they auctioned it off. Proceeds probably went to chimp research or somethin. Not quite sure what that was all about. She is the worlds leading expert on Chimp research. She goes out into the jungles where chimp families live and live among them to study them. She gets excepted into their families So she can watch up close. It really is amazin! These are wild chimps livin out free in the jungle. They could tare us apart limb by limb if they so chose to. They learn to trust her. The Sock Drawer is in awe of her work. Great lady!
And what better place to insert The flyin monkeys, right? Jane loved it! Ya'll know she did. I shouldn't have ta tell ya'll that.
A straight jacket for the nonbelievers. LOL! I need to fill my coffee cup on that note.
Have a great Thursday! Bubba

Just rain so far
Good early mornin Possum's! Yes,we're up at the crack of dawn to blog for ya'll! The winter advisery is nothing but rain thus far. Cousre the warnin goes until 1 P.M. this afternoon. So we're keepin an eye out for that. Was hope'in ta have snow here on our vacation for bolg photos. But so far that hasn't produced itself. Got some wonderful Sock Monkey photos created by Thomas H. Durand. They are to cool. Here's the first.
Mr. Thomas has quite the eye for this. I hope the photos are not cut off in my blog. If so I think ya'll can click on them and it will take you to my photobucket to view it fully.
Mr. Thomas has 5 or 6 pages on his web site of Sock Monkey photos ta share with folks. I just picked out my favorites.
Their messgae is very powerful indeed.
This one is entitled ball of confusion.
I hoped I'd be doin this one this mornin, but don't look like I'm gonna get the chance. I'll just fall in a mud puddle instead. Splashin around in the mud could be fun I guess. Someday I just might try it.
The shadow is on the wall Possum's.
Once more...The snow I dreamed of.
I think it's time for more Sock Monkey web sites.

Winter advisery
I've been watchin the weather channel again. Their callin for 1 to 2" of snow for wednesday mornin. We'll keep an eye out to see if that really comes about. The low tonight is only gonna be 36 degrees. Doesn't seem cold enough for snow to stick.
Well any way,Mike has been into his Teddy Bear collection. He has many very old ones. This guy here isn't old. He's from the Boyds collection. The Archive series. He measures 22" in length. He has a leather collar on with a big bell attached to it. I know ya'll can't see it in the photo, but it's there. Teddy Bears have always been a big part of Mike's life. He's been collecting them for 20 years and he is very selective bout witch ones he likes. He loves the old world style. The ones from the early 1900's. Would he ever love the real antique deal, but they get rather costly and many repairs to be made. Steiff bears are, in his opinion, the top of the line In Teddy bears. The reproductions of the old era. Jointed bears with humps in their backs. Mohair fur. We've seen them go as high as $800.00 to $900.00. Most are in the $100.00 to 200.00 range. Mike plans to add one to his collection for his April birthday. He turns 50! Already has him picked out. We'll share that with you in another blog.
Durin Mike's vacation,he has been arrangin them all over the flat. There are upstairs Teddies and there are downstairs Teddies, bathroom Teddies and Kitchen Teddies. Teddies on the stairs. Everywhere ya'll look,a hug! Thanks ta Teddy Rosevelt. He's the one that started it all. I'm sure ya'll have all heard that story.
The rain comes down pretty good now. So git your favorite Teddy Bear and snuggle up. Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow! Bubba
The rain showers
It's a cold rainy day in Nashville for the hour. I have it on good authority that the rain will be here all day. So I poured my self another cup of Java-jo and lit a cigarette. The ceramic cat mug my choice of mugs for such an ocassion. The bright colors cheers one up. I love rainy days. Sit around and watch movies on demand. Perhaps read a book. Quiet time ta be had. Just as I had promised in my earlier January blogs,I have more Sock Monkey sites for ya'll ta check out. Here is the first...
http://www.sockmonkeyranch.com/history.htm
Oohhhh....I see your ready for another.....
http://www.sockmonkeyfun.net

http://www.sockmonkeychronicles.com/index.html
I think that'll keep ya'll busy on the Sock Monkey news out an about. The Sock Monkey community has gotten rather large in cyber space. LONG LIVE THE SOCK MONKEY! Sorry for the tarrets moment there. Forgive my intrusion.
I think a change of subject should be incerted here.....The Kraft challenge #13. Making ya'll's Sock Monkeys into lookin like your favorite celeb! I was checkin out that very web site only this mornin. Although, the URL escapes me at present. Do forgive me for that. But! I have two photos ta show ya'll from my personal favorite.

Parleggy
Good evenin Possums, and A.K.'s nosey Klan. The recently returned neighbor has disappeared once again after the written word of my blog. It"s a miracle! I did see him however, drivin by in another truck today.Strange but true. Enquirin minds.....are strangely connected. The WFM conversations are all centered around one certain long haired red head.Funny, they don't happen anywhere else but when she's present. There are two other folks in on it as well. A.K. do you really think we're that stupid? You were purposely given this blog address. Funny the red head is from the B&C. How Queer is that I ask you? You can stop the nonsense! Go away!
Now that that's out of the way...I have the picture I promised of the new doll creation.
Here she is ya'll! Parleggy is her name and is on the white bracelet around her wrist. Have a great Monday! Bubba

The cheese is in the pot
Goood evenin one and all. Bubba here and have I got a blog for you. First of all Yahoo has done some investagatin bout the old stand by Mac and Cheese dinners (boxed).
This is their findins.
The Winner at #1. Pasta Roni shells and white cheddar.
#2. Kraft Macaroni & cheese dinner original flavor.
#3. Kraft macaroni & cheese dinner premium thick 'n creamy.
#4. Kraft Velveeta shells & cheese original.
#5. Annies shells & real aged cheddar.
#6. Generic store brand Mac & cheese.
I know ya'll was just dyin ta know bout that! I was quite shocked! There are times when the Generic Mac & cheese is a gourmet meal for those of us whom are poor. Ya just got ta know how ta work it right. Ramen Noodles come ta mind. Now there's a meal. A 98 cent package of veggies and a bit of salad dressin will put you in the road to fine dinin! So get out the Sterlin Silver and fine linens. You'll be the talk of the town in no time. Invite guest over for pennies on the dollar. A Good time will be had by all.
For those of ya'll whom are to lazy ta look up the answer of the before picture of the Teddy bear that was restored by Mike. Here it is. So what ya'll think? Much improvement. The love of a good Teddy Bear will be around for centuries.
The cold of the day and evenin has us once again soakin dried Pinto beans in water ta bring them to their full size. They have been in soakin for serveral hours now. Still not time ta cook as of yet. This is an old photo. The beans are already cookin in this photo as ya'll can well see. But that's okay. I do tend to re-use photos from time ta time. But the blog is always different. Most important change of topics.
Mike has been workin on one of his doll creations. Arms and legs all sewed on and now lookin ta find the face of the lovely creature. Blue and teal the color of her skin. Mike will be glad ta share the photo of her upon her finish. She is the fourth in the series and we'll review them as we prepare ya'll for her unveilin. Tonight he plans ta work on her face.
As for the Speed Racer movie rented just yesterday. Well there was nothin recorded on the disk. Empty. Would not play at tall. So,I guess I'll not see it for now. Maybe they'll make it right and let me see another copy. Here's to a great evenin! Bubba
News of the day
Have Ya'll ever seen a more beautiful sight? Monkey Socks! It's like family! Don't laugh. They could turn into my relatives. Ya just never know bout that! So here we are on Sunday Mornin. Still chillin cause the vacation Is goin just fine. It's cold outside again.
Got lots ta show and tale today.
This Sock Monkey here was ta be the Obama Sock Monkey. Twas considered racist and never produced. Go ahead and look it up on Yahoo,if ya don't believe me. Tis a true story. What!? They got somethin agaisnt Sock Monkeys or somethin? Wha's sup with that? Iffin ya'll can read between the lines on a hand,ya'll would know what I'm thinkin bout now. But anyway, the world keeps on spinnin!
This old bear came to us from Ebay some months back. He needed a restorin gig somethin awful. So here he is. The after photo. Face done up in the 1960's bears. The before photo is on one of my Christmas blogs. Can ya guess which one? I'll leave that for ya'll ta look up. So challenge yourselves ta find out the answer. Mike has a soft spot when it comes ta restorin old Teddies.
Mike and I and the two Chihuahus all snuggled up on the sofa togehter ta watch The Miss America peagent on TV last night! Mario Lopez the anoucer, dressed up in his tux. Yesss-sir,was lookin sharp for the viewers. The finalist dressed in swim suits and evenin gowns. Twas a night of glamor, sparkle and talent. I was hope'in Miss Tenn. would win the title. She did pretty good! She was there till the very end. Miss Georgia took first runner up! Mike and I are from Atlanta, our hometown. So that was special. Applause for her! But now.....Miss Indiana (Katie Stam) took the judges by storm! And there ya see the picture up above of her bein crowned Miss America! The crowd goes wild! Tears flowin at her success! Rock on Katie girl! Applause from The Sock Drawer as well. Job well done. $50.000 for school fees ain't bad! Go-on wit your bad self! Ya go be smart ya hear? Make us all proud.
This here is a print done by Ms. Agnes Barton. Just enter Betty Turbo in ya'll's search engines and her store will come up. She blogs as well. So ya might want ta go and check her out. Her likeness of me is awesome!
Look at the Beer mug Mike got me! Just my size! From the thrift store. I'm a party'in Sock Monkey with purpose. Drinkin out of the finest crystal drink ware. Lead crystal Possums....Wow! I'm an uptown Sock Monkey. My celeb status has not failed me. LOL!
Some colorful coffee mugs another thrift store find. We had solid Black goth mugs before. Very depressin! Yuk! Don't worry. They've been tossed out. Now we can drink coffee with style and flair. Sittin in a Cafe in Paris. Coffee drinkin an event. The times of your life kind of stuff. The best part of wakin up,is Flodgers in your cup. Ya'll know the tune from the commercial. Or the guy with the mustache and Donkey walkin through the mountian grown coffee fields. What a coffee break!
That about covers it for today. Bubba

V-A-C-A-T-I-O-N
I was just sittin here with my Teddy Bear and enjoyin a cold day inside. The bills have all been paid so I can stay warm with a roof over my head for another month. Got a cup of warm coffee and just chillin! The blessin's just keep on comin! Tonights low is suppose ta be 23 degrees. Chilly I'd say!
Mike went and rented movies yesterday. We have already watched two of them. The first one was one I wanted ta see for a long time. Dr. Seuss's Horton Hears a Who! The computer generated cartoon was delight. A cute fun movie for the entire playhouse or Sock Drawer, witch ever ya'll prefer. Hey,I choose The Sock Drawer, but that's just me. Better than bein one of those lost socks in the wash, that no one ever knows where they go to. I guess the mystery will never ever be solved.
Then the next movie was a stand-up comedy talents of Mr. Jeff Dunham and his ventriloquist characters. Twas made for adults and truely funny! Mr. Dunham is truely the modern day Edgar Bergman and Charley McCarthy! I suggest ya'll rent this funny act! Ya'll won't be sorry ya did.
Speed Racer is the next one we rented. The one with real people playin the roles. Haven't had the chance to view this one yet,but plan to tonight. To cold ta go out,so Speed Racer is on the agenda.
The thrift store bein the afternoon pass time of yesterday, was a great find to quickly follow. The Mystery Machine van!!!! Only for a $1.59! And then on top of that,it was half off because it had a green tag! How frickin awesome is that? Scooby-Doo,Where are you!?
The doors open! And there is a secret compartment to put your valuables! Doesn't my Teddy Bear look cool sittin in the back of the Mystery Machine?
Accordin to the Weather Channel, looks as is Nashville has got rain for the rest of the week! Gonna be a bloggin week! Rainy day bloggin! Mike and I will have to come up with some serious topics that we have yet ta cover.
Mike Mopped the kitchen floor this mornin for the enquirein minds. He also vaccumed the livingroom. Mopped the staircase. it was dutsy. Tomorrow he hopes to steam clean the carpet. I'm sure a Journal page or two will be set up for you guys as well. As for the trash out on the lawn, there is a black trash bag,a broken toy gun and a few brick pieces. On the stairs down to the street is a bubblegum machine plastic bubble, On the street curb there is a chewed up small teddy bear, along with a red plastic cup all busted up. Enquirein minds like ta know for some strange reason. The things a celebrity has to go through.
The long lost neighbor that moved away to Florida,is back and hangin around. Still got the pick-up truck. Showed up when Mike went on his vacation. It's a miracle!
So I leave ya'll with a peek at Mike's Doll collection. Hope ya'll have a great weekend! Bubba

Good evenin ta one an all! Are ya checkin out my Tattoo? Yeah,I got one. Check out the tough lookin sitches man......swwwweeeettttt.......
Narley dude. Ride'in the wave man. Pull your hair through a cap for blond highlights kind of stuff dude. Tightenin up the mohawk. Chainin your wallet to your hip good. Black fingernails and lipstick good. Hangin out in the graveyard good.
Kay! Now that that's out of the way. We can go on to other things here in my blog. In reality I had to coax Mike into lettin me have a tatto. Talk about tough! He really didn't want me to. I told him we can always unsew it. He agreed since it really wasn't permanent.
On the brighter side of things, three days and countin till Mike's vacation! Now that's what I'm talkin bout. Happy Sunday! Bubba
