When you wish upon a star
Like what am I suppose to do Possum's? Write my name on it with a sharpy? Go figure Nashville would present me with a star of my own and have to take care of the inscription myself! It's a little bit country. A whole lot of country if ya'll ask me! So....I've been on a new journey! State museum!
Egytian relics and revivals! Wonderful things from Tutankhamun's tomb! Was something else Possum's! I had to go and see the relic's for myself!
Statues of pure gold!
These things are from 1333 BC! The beauty and art work alone were true worth the trip of wonder. I was afraid of the curse itself and looked around every corner before carrying on my tour of the deceased and his belongings.
I was truely amazed at the sight of these things! We Americans can only dream about in movies and Tv shows we watch.
I marvel at their artwork! The fine craftsmanship that went into each and every piece! A true sign of wealth and royalty of the day.
This is the golden Funerary Mask of Tutankhamun! A radiant portrait of the young pharaoh in a mask of solid gold, found resting over the head and shoulders of Tutankhamun's linen-wrapped mummy.
Golden Throne and ceremonial footrest
This is the mummy itself wrapped in linen and many jewels laid to rest on top of his body.
The museum knew I was comin in advance. They had prepared the stage for my celeb status. Not fair Possum's! Foul play!
I leave you with these treasures in mind and close The Sock Drawer on another day. Bubba
A capital idea
Welcome to The Sock Drawer warehouse Possum's and Peeps! A lot has transpired this week in a capital movement! Yes I must say that it has been a busy week for me here in The Sock Drawer. I had many appearances to make.
I was feeling a bit legislative and decided to head out for the Nashville capital buildin for a tour around! I must keep our law makers in check. They tend to wonder around in confushion when I'm not there to keep the ball rollin for them.
Out on the front lawn they have chosen to keep the original coloumns from the original buildin of the 1850's. Pretty cool historical and of interest for the photo finish moment. Some of the greats of our great country have walked past these columns durin the buildin of our US of A. G.W. himself might have leaned up against one of these columns for a quick smoke at one time. I'm just sayin! A Sock Monkey guess isn't always right.
What capital would be complete without the bell tower? One ringy dingy! The red coats are comin or something! One never knows what it was used for durin the 1800's. They love to ring bells and stuff like that there.
It's a capital with a view! Wow! and what a view it is! Our state capital sits way up on a hill and over looks Nashville and all her beauty! I could hardly catch my Sock Monkey breath as I gazed out over Nashville. The sky was clear blue for the sunniest day one could imagine.
Here's just a teaser peek at the buildin herself. My bad? Aaaawww Shucks Possum's! Let a Sock Monkey have his fun Please!
The bust of famous law makers are everywhere inside. I'm pretty sure there is a law somewhere sayin I shouldn't be sittin along on top of it for a photo. Laws were made to be broken Possum's. The state patrol was parked just outside and they didn't make an intrance on the matter. Do they even make handcuffs small enough to fit around my wrist?
The lightin was a show all by itself! These light fixtures are original from the 1800's! They lit up my mug pretty good. I think I remember the tour guide tellin us they were gas lit at one time or antoher. Ben Franklin you old coot! Bringin electricity along to light up my life and celeb status! What were you thinkin? I was plum proud to be a part of it all here in the present. 200 years later their tax dollars still at work! Talk about strecthin the almighty dollar!
I walked around in style and elegance! A marble staircase here and there! Me in my tie-dye! I was under dressed for such an occashion. Buts that's alright I was playin the tourist part that day.
Hello Possum's! Should I walk throught this door and assum command of the law makers warehouse? I shudder to think what lies beyond this door. I think I shall pass on it!
This is the original official state seal for documents and laws. They still use it and it all the way from the 1800's with it's bad self! Pretty evil lookin if ya'll ask me!
The carpets are not original although they did have an oil paintin from back in the day that showed this carpet and they had it remade. Kind of had the Christmas look to me. I'm just sayin.....
Here is the outside. I finally decided to show ya'll what it looked like in it's present day state.
And this is what it looks like with me standin in front of it! I know you curious onlookers wanted to see that! I stuck a feather in my hat and called it macarroni! Sure shootin Possum's!
And that's the News from Bubba's Sock Drawer! Nashville will never be the same after that! Bubba out Possum's!
