The Festival of Books

Hello my Possum's! And welcome to another episode of Bubba's Sock Drawer! Lots been goin on this year for my Sock Drawer staff and crew. The story that unfolds here is as follows. Now I didn't know this Book Festival was happenin this paticular day in question. I was layin in bed that mornin about 7:00 A.M. I was havin my mornin coffee and watchin the early mornin news. They brought this story to the screen and it made me sit up and take note. The fall air was nice and cool and the sun was out! All in all a perfect day to go Book festivalin! The ladies you see in the picture above, first met us on our arrival. The very words out of one of the ladies mouths....and I quote..."It's the travelin Monkey!" I invited them to photo with me and be shown on my Sock Drawer blog!

I had never been to this festival before or for that matter had never heard of. It was across the street from the capital. All the white tents ya'll see house books for the festival. Many authors were present for book signins.


Oh yeah! Some more capital footage! Like ya'll have never seen it here in The Sock Drawer! (giggle out loud)


I decided to take a sit down for a moment to think this through. I happen to look across the street in the opposite direction from the capital and spotted T-Pac! I'm thinkin a night out at the theatre would be nice. Haven't been to see a broadway play in ages!



That's what I'm talkin about! Wicked is in town!


I step right up to the ticket booth and ask for two of the best seats ya got! I don't give and rats $%*^ what night it falls on! I'm aimin to see this play I've heard so much about and have heard it got four stars! I lay out The Sock Drawer Visa card and take home my two tickets!


NOW BACK ACROSS THE STREET to the Book festival and celebration of the written word.


The cameras follow me everywhere! Well I am a big Mega Star of 5 star proportions. I have to make appearances everywherey.


Mean Mary was there to sang us a song! Mean Mary is what she calls herself. I wasn't tryin to be mean by sayin that. She performs on a local channel 19. Music is always in the air here in Nashville.


A quick stop  by the Farmers market on the way home brought homemade cheesecake and a chocolate moucha latte to my table top! I really enjoyed the Book Festival. Time to close The Sock drawer on another adventure. Bubba

Christmas in the kitchen

A few days ago I was layin around in middle Tennessee. Pretty much mindin my own business as I usually do in these instances. After a quick walk around of the city. I headed back home. What I found was positively shockin!



Christmas in the kitchen Possum's! What the *%$##*? My Human Dad offered to paint pumpkin faces on them for the time bein. The roomate you understand.


Out came the stockins for the dogs! With a quick turn down of the pumpkin face idea...I quickly crawled into the dog stockin when no one was lookin and my camera staff was on to me and they snapped the photo! Most homes are startin to have the October Halloween look by this time.

Now this is more like it! A pumpkin with warts!



Fall mums by  ocean proportions. A sea of color! Beautiful colors! October colors! Not Christmas red and green colors!


I just decided to "Roll With it!"
What's a Sock Monkey to do in this paticular case? Scoop out a pumpkin and just lay in it I guess! Roll around in the seeds and pumpkin guts! That's what came to mind.


Instead I just got into the Sock Drawer limo and headed for ST. Louis! What did I find there? A Vampire blood bath fountain! I'm not kiddin! The fountain was completely red! Brings new meanin to The Twilight Saga! Hey Edward! Care for a drink?

I walked over in front of the ST. Louis capital and there was another blood red fountain! What a curious city!
They seemed to want to hide the ST. Louis Arch behind the capital! Hardly hidden I was able to find it. I mean...We could see it from the highway! Hide it? I think not Possum's!


The Bubba Arch!

Just hold your horses my Possum's. I have to show ya'll the back side of the capital! My photo staff thought it was a good snapshot. Now that that's out of the way on with more shots of the Arch! I just knew ya'll couldn't wait for that!



Sorry about that Possum's! I had to fool around with it! I mean..This thing is frickkin big!


Any questions? I didn't think so.


Ya'll know ole Bubba! I just had to find one of the biggest flowers pots and climb up inside and think about this Arch!



This is the blood bath fountain in front of the capital from a side view. Looks cool right? I though so! The funny thing about this trip to ST. Louis, was the internet said this would be a 4 1/2 hour drive from Nashville. Famous last words right? The directions they gave were followed to the note! Left Nashville at 8 A.M. and finally reached my ST. Louis destination by 4:30 P.M. that very afternoon! Makin me arriving back home in Nashville at 11 P.M.


About 50 of these tents were being lived in,in front of the capital itself! Economic display of homeless due to no jobs for these people to own and rent their own homes! Each and everyone of them just like you and I. Lost Jobs...Forclosed homes.... Just traggic! I really felt for these folks. I mingled....I talked to and sat with coffee in hand.



And there ya'll have it Possum's! My trip to St. Louis...designed to run away from Christmas in my kitchen! Bubba out!

More Scarecrows

Hello my Possum chasers! What's up on this another Saturday? Say ya'll don't have anything to do? Well have I got some scarecrows to show ya! That'll take up a few minutes of your time! If ya remember the blog before last, you'll remember I never finished showin ya all of my scarecrow tour. Ya say your tryin to get into the Halloween spirit or perhaps ya just want a little fall time feel. Whatever your taste on a silver platter is...just sit back and enjoy the scarecrows.




This one is really kind of cool! An a American Indian and his tee-pee! Twas a pleasent surprise from the usual scarecrow of fall!

Scarecrow or not This one fell into my tour of the gardens. Accordin to the garden people...This was one of the entrees. Kind of has the Mad magazine look to it.

 

Woooooo-Whoooo! Another scarecrow!




I love the garden theme to this one! Just a touch of patriotic influence off to the right hand side. Made from clay flower pots is a very creative way to look at the Scarecrow theme.




Did someone say vampire mansion? Maybe not but it sure has the look of it. Bella and Edward simply must retire here! Wait! Do vampires retire? I don't think the subject has ever come up in any vamp. movie I ever saw. Well... on with the scarecrows Possum's.

This tour was very interestin to see. I clearly enjoyed the tour.

I was runnin through the scarecrows lookin like a crazed Sock Monkey! Actually I am a crazed Sock Monkey, but let's not tell anyone.

The Big Pink bus

Good evenin Possum's and all around roadkill!  Have ya'll ever seen a big pink bus before? Well ya have now! I just knew my Possum's couldn't make it through Halloween without seein this! It was to good to pass up!


The way I see it? It has to be hers! Pink must be the new ornage! What a weird Halloween it'll be with all this pink!




Here's another thing that happened to me today! Remember how I said the Pumpkin pose was canceled for this year? I decided to head on over to the farmers market to walk around for the afternoon.



I walk into one of the buildins when I arrived and found the entire buildin full of every kind of pumpkin ya'll can imagine! I mean really! Isn't that always the way it happens? Ya think ya could cancel something if ya want to! But fate had another plan this piticular fall afternoon.



So I'm gonna just roll with it and have that pumpkin pose! Here it is! I mean it's perfectly provided for me!




Didn't I say they came in every form ya'll could think of? Painted faces on a Pumpkin? What ever happened to folks carvin'em?



Fat pumpkins small pumpkins of every shape and size pumpkins! I know I promised the rest of the scarecrows,but when fate knocks on the door ya open it!

I bet ya'll never seen gray pumpkins! Pink bus and gray pumpkins? What's the world comin to?
