A country drive

Photobucket

Good mornin Possum's! Hows the Wednesday mornin stuff treatin ya'll so far? Yesterday was such a beautiful day I decided to take a nice drive in the country. You know get a away from all the drama of the big city. Breath in some fresh air and just enjoy the gazebo by the pond.  A scenic drive such as this is what a soul needs from time to time. The gazebo and pond was something I saw on the side of the road and decided to stop for a kodak moment...for these are the days of my life. Pay no attention to the Green Achres theme being played in my head. Keep manhattan just give me that country side.
Photobucket

I was oh so curious as I was passin this place. I originally thought it was a an old barn. I love old barns and wanted to take a closer look. I pulled the car off the side of the road and got out. I carefully walked through the weeds to get closer. What I found was... this use to be a two room house. Really? I thought to myself. The door was open as this place has been abandoned for quite some time. It got curiuoser and curiouser. I just had to go inside and take a look. Don't worry my Possum's...I was very careful to make sure the place could support the weight of my staff and I.

Photobucket

The floor seemed sturdy enough to stand on. This old fireplace is what we found inside. This two room house was just on this side of rottin to the ground. It was fun to explore.
Photobucket

This is the overall picture of what it looked like. This old country road was really a nice exploration and I would like to travel it further one day when I have more time. I do have appearances to make and all bein the mega star that I am. This shall simply have to wait for another day. I do hope that I've kept you entertained for at least just a moment. Have a pleasent Wednesday Possum's! Bubba

Tuesday's off to a good start

Photobucket

Great day in the Tuesday mornin Possum's! The fall temps continue here in the country music city. It's a nice mornin to sit out and have a cup of Joe. My house staff and I have been named the porch peeple as we like to sit out on the porch and solve the worlds problems over coffee. All the neighbors stare in our direction. They have forgotten how to sit back and enjoy life. Porch sittin seems to be a thing of the past. We do see our regulars walk by on occasion with a quick wave and a pleasent hello. The dogs in our yard bark an eagar hello. Have I got a story about that. I'll save it for another time as we didn't bring the cameras out on the porch with us. This one ya'll won't believe! But it's quite real and truly amazin! One of our dogs is quite the topic of the neighborhood. It's one of those believe or not kind of things.

Photobucket

This is one of the pictures left over from the train yard blog of yesterday. I did take a train ride trip back in my past. Just did it to see what it was like. It was an enjoyable thing to do. A romantic of things gone by. A slower time in our great history.
Photobucket

So from the steps of the Nashville capital, I tip my hat to my Possum's and bid ya'll a wonderful Tuesday. I will close the Sock Drawer and be on my way. Peace out Possum's! Bubba

Tennessee Central railway museum

Photobucket

Another Monday is upon us Possum's! I trust you all had a good nights rest and are ready for what lies ahead for us in this week. Well Hot Dog! It's all that and a bucket of fries! Yes I said a bucket of fries! Not any of those little toy frie bags they give ya at the golden arch supper club. I'm a grown Sock needin a bucket of fries and lots of chocolate.

Photobucket

Step right up and read Bubba's Sock Drawer for free! It's always free! Something ya'll can do on a budget! Unemployed? It's free!
Photobucket

I started out to tour the Tennessee Central Railway museum for todays blog. The funny thing is...It was closed cause they had Thomas week for the kiddies and were closed for cleanin and repairs. I ventured out to the train yard for a few shots, so the trip wasn't a total loss. My camera crew will follow me anywhere.
Photobucket

I know my Possum's...The Plantation thing only goes so far. I do enjoy seein and hearin about the history of things from the past. Today I'm hummin the theme song from Petticoat Junction! An Old show from the 1960's. Wonderin whats at the other end of this here railroad track.

Photobucket

So from the little red caboose...I bid ya'll farewell and close The Sock Drawer for Monday! Bubba

The sights and sounds of the city

Photobucket

Hello Possum's! Bubba here and The Sock Drawer is open! Ya'll know me and my neon addiction! Anyhoo on with the next adventure! The day was airy and beautiful and much like a fall day in the temp department. What did ole Bubba do on such a great day? Not much on the ta-do list so I decided to walk into the big city which is really just down the street.

Photobucket

Ya'll can just sit a spell as I walk along and it'll be as if ya'll are on a guided tour of downtown Nashville. It twas a lazy Sunday afternoon as I pittled the downtown streets. Some might think I was lookin for trouble, but most knew otherwise as I had my camera and film crew with me.

Photobucket

There are lots of things to see and do other than country music here. The folks that have come here with big dreams in recent years...all just blend in together. Their all in a band and their all gonna be famous blah, blah, blah! The story never changes from year to year. But enought of that story line and on with the rest of the city!

Photobucket
Photobucket

Photobucket

I could sit here by this babblin brook and talk about that story all day! But let's not! Let's have a nice calmin day as we all know this date doesn't have the best rememberance in our history.

Photobucket

The folks here in Nashville have gotten quite use to seein ole Bubba out and about. They all throw their hands up and wave when they see us comin. Some stop and talk about The Sock Drawer happenins and try to pry my destination out of me. A few autographs get signed and I'm on my way once again.
Photobucket

Nicole Kidman might stop over to say hi...but I don't impose for a photo op! She and Keith are private on that note and I respect their wishes.

Photobucket

I do enjoy a walk through the big buildins of the downtown area. Some of them really old such as the one ya'll see in the photo above. They seem to be as old as Minnie Pearl and still standin.
Photobucket

I hum "I like to be in America " as I walk along. They remind me of that West Side story movie.

Photobucket

Okay Possum's! The ryman just across the street from us! Gosh! Now that we got all that out of the way. I know that was on ya'lls minds the whole time I been talkin.

Photobucket

So on with the city tour. This is one of my favorite shots. We could title it, Bubba does New York! But that wouldn't be right since I'm really in Nashville. I must say it has that look. If I were filmin another movie, I might consider usin this scene for a New York back drop. I just sayin!

Photobucket

This bein the Batman buildin and home of At&t...I get really great cell phone service on this corner.

Photobucket

There's lots of artwork throughout the city and I never get tired of seein it!

Photobucket

My house staff is callin me for dinner! I'LL BE RIGHT THERE! I'm doin my blog update! Sorry Possum's!

Photobucket

Take a walk on the wild side!

Photobucket

Some fun stuff down alley ways. The fun can be tucked away in the neetest places.
Photobucket

Slap me with some more neon! I love the neon at dusk.
Photobucket

It's really the thing in this olden city of Nashville. Time to close The Sock Drawer! Dinner ya know. Bubba

9/11

Photobucket

We here at Bubba's Sock Drawer would like to take a moment to pause from our busy lives and remember the victum's and their families of 9/11. It was a tragedy in our American history and we will never forget the shock and horror of that paticular day.

Photobucket

May God bless you. Bubba

DAM Blog

Photobucket

A Celebrity Sock Monkey never sleeps Possum's! Here I am off to another adventure. This one is a fun one. Why ya'll ask? Cause I get to say DAM! I'm usually not a swearin Sock monkey. But try and stay with me on this one.

Photobucket

We drove to the Nashville Dam. Quite an interestin thing to see. I was curious to see it. I saw the sign from the highway and decided to stop in for a glance! I'm a Unicorn!

Photobucket

I don't really know why but there is a stone room with faucets inside. That's all there was. Nothing such as a restroom at all. At least i could wash my hands. There was the strangest dead fish smell in the air upon gettin out of the car on our arrival. Putred smell is was!

Photobucket

DAM, DAM, DAM, DAM, DAM Possum's! I mean DAM!

Photobucket

I sat back on these cement slabs to watch the water pour through like a waterfall. A smelly one at that!

Photobucket

That's all for this DAM Blog! Close the Sock Drawer! Bubba

Andrew Jackson

Photobucket

Hello Possum's! The adventures just keep addin up! It was a perfectly wonderful afternoon with the fall time temps goin on. I thought to myself..It would be a great day to go and check out The Hermitage! Yeah! Ya'll know it's the house Andrew Jackson, the 7th President of the United States, lived with his wife and children.

Photobucket

A far cry from the little plastic dude in the toilet bit.....I have to say that I was plum touched to tears when I saw the rusted out water tower in town Nashville! Someone had painted "We want more Bubba!" And more Bubba ya'll shall get! Fans Possum's. Fans from Nashville!

Photobucket

The house itself is very beautiful! All the wall papers and furnitures are original and were really used by The 7th president himself! Since the original funishins were present and accounted for....We were not allowed to bring in my camera and film crew. The back pack I rode in on had to be left at the servents quarters. The presidents already dead...but security and all. Ya'll understand.

Photobucket

This Possum's, is our tour gudie of the front porch! There were tour guides disperst throughout this main house. One in the hall one on the stairs, one in the upstairs hallway. Ya'll get the picture.

Photobucket
Photobucket

This is the back of the house Possum's! Two different angles!

Photobucket

This is the back of the house from a distance. I was walkin down the path off to the Slave cabins.

Photobucket

Along the way to the slave cabins was a cotton patch.

Photobucket

The slave cabins are all original and still intact.

Photobucket

Photobucket

These two photographs are of items found in a small hole in the floor. They hid their possesions away so they could hold onto their things.

Photobucket

I lay on the fireplace of the salve quarters.

Photobucket
It's a closer shot of the slave quarters.

Photobucket

Some really cool historical things here at his house! Time to close the Sock Drawer! Bubba
