It could be worse

Photobucket

Hello Sock Possum's! I'm sittin here on top of a roadside elk waitin for the wind to change direction. Sunnin myself in the rack. It was a photo minute if I ever saw one.

Photobucket

I was out and about town today just seein what's out and about. I found some interestin stuff to get into. We were actually brain stormin of what our next move would be here in my Sock Drawer. Came up with some fun things to check out in the up comin weeks, so stayed tuned for excitin sock monkey antics of the Nashville variety.

Photobucket

All the colors of the wall are in place. A little bit of paint and a lot of imagination can make the skankiest places look better.

Photobucket

Hope all is well with my Possum's! Bubba out!

A peach of a day

Photobucket

It's a peachy day here in Bubba's Sock Drawer. The peach cobbler of a mornin and the peach perserves of an afternoon. If ya'll stick around long enough it'll turn into peach wine. Just breath 2,3,4. They are the crop of the Georgia red clay badlands. You know... the one next to Alabama. The two states actually join hands in the map of things.

Photobucket

Peaches are fun to squeeze between your fingers. The mushyest! Some refer to peach fuzz as hair on your chin. Why? cause they couldn't think of anything else to say. Kind of like todays message is brought to you by the peach.

Photobucket

All in all? Today was a peachy day! Don't for get to hang your socks out to dry! Bubba

Under the train track

Photobucket

My Possum's! How nice of ya'll to stop in again and join me here in The Sock Drawer. I must say the rain clouds and storms have moved on and is now a beautiful sunny afternoon. As ya'll well know I have been out and about walking the city finding things you might like to see and visit on your next trip to Nashville for those of you that share the boredom of country music. C.M. is a real yawner in my book.

I found the smallest little confederate museum tucked away under the train tracks. The picture above is on the front glass of the confederate museum. I thought it would be funny to try and make this picture look as if I were in the picture with these two soldiers. What do ya'll think?

Photobucket

The dreaded flag everyone hates to see comin, but is a part of our American history and stashed away here in the museum where it should stay for the duration of our great country.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

The museum mainly has uniforms and weapon froms the confederate war for viewing. Plaques with historic information tell they story. Thats about all there is to this little tiny museum. As the train rumbles on over head, the train whistle brings us back into the 21st century. I close The Sock Drawer here. Bubba

When you wish upon a star

Photobucket

Like what am I suppose to do Possum's? Write my name on it with a sharpy? Go figure Nashville would present me with a star of my own and have to take care of the inscription myself! It's a little bit country. A whole lot of country if ya'll ask me! So....I've been on a new journey! State museum!

Photobucket

Egytian relics and revivals! Wonderful things from Tutankhamun's tomb! Was something else Possum's! I had to go and see the relic's for myself!

Photobucket

Statues of pure gold!

Photobucket

These things are from 1333 BC! The beauty and art work alone were true worth the trip of wonder. I was afraid of the curse itself and looked around every corner before carrying on my tour of the deceased and his belongings.

Photobucket

I was truely amazed at the sight of these things! We Americans can only dream about in movies and Tv shows we watch.

Photobucket

I marvel at their artwork! The fine craftsmanship that went into each and every piece! A true sign of wealth and royalty of the day.

Photobucket

This is the golden Funerary Mask of Tutankhamun! A radiant portrait of the young pharaoh in a mask of solid gold, found resting over the head and shoulders of Tutankhamun's linen-wrapped mummy.

Photobucket

Golden Throne and ceremonial footrest

Photobucket

This is the mummy itself wrapped in linen and many jewels laid to rest on top of his body.

Photobucket

The museum knew I was comin in advance. They had prepared the stage for my celeb status. Not fair Possum's! Foul play!

Photobucket I leave you with these treasures in mind and close The Sock Drawer on another day. Bubba

A capital idea

Photobucket

Welcome to The Sock Drawer warehouse Possum's and Peeps! A lot has transpired this week in a capital movement! Yes I must say that it has been a busy week for me here in The Sock Drawer. I had many appearances to make.

Photobucket

I was feeling a bit legislative and decided to head out for the Nashville capital buildin for a tour around! I must keep our law makers in check. They tend to wonder around in confushion when I'm not there to keep the ball rollin for them.

Photobucket

Out on the front lawn they have chosen to keep the original coloumns from the original buildin of the 1850's. Pretty cool historical and of interest for the photo finish moment. Some of the greats of our great country have walked past these columns durin the buildin of our US of A. G.W. himself might have leaned up against one of these columns for a quick smoke at one time. I'm just sayin! A Sock Monkey guess isn't always right.

Photobucket

What capital would be complete without the bell tower? One ringy dingy! The red coats are comin or something! One never knows what it was used for durin the 1800's. They love to ring bells and stuff like that there.

Photobucket

It's a capital with a view! Wow! and what a view it is! Our state capital sits way up on a hill and over looks Nashville and all her beauty! I could hardly catch my Sock Monkey breath as I gazed out over Nashville. The sky was clear blue for the sunniest day one could imagine.

Photobucket

Here's just a teaser peek at the buildin herself. My bad? Aaaawww Shucks Possum's! Let a Sock Monkey have his fun Please!

Photobucket

The bust of famous law makers are everywhere inside. I'm pretty sure there is a law somewhere sayin I shouldn't be sittin along on top of it for a photo. Laws were made to be broken Possum's. The state patrol was parked just outside and they didn't make an intrance on the matter. Do they even make handcuffs small enough to fit around my wrist?

Photobucket

The lightin was a show all by itself! These light fixtures are original from the 1800's! They lit up my mug pretty good. I think I remember the tour guide tellin us they were gas lit at one time or antoher. Ben Franklin you old coot! Bringin electricity along to light up my life and celeb status! What were you thinkin? I was plum proud to be a part of it all here in the present. 200 years later their tax dollars still at work! Talk about strecthin the almighty dollar!

Photobucket

I walked around in style and elegance! A marble staircase here and there! Me in my tie-dye! I was under dressed for such an occashion. Buts that's alright I was playin the tourist part that day.

Photobucket

Hello Possum's! Should I walk throught this door and assum command of the law makers warehouse? I shudder to think what lies beyond this door. I think I shall pass on it!

Photobucket

This is the original official state seal for documents and laws. They still use it and it all the way from the 1800's with it's bad self! Pretty evil lookin if ya'll ask me!

Photobucket

The carpets are not original although they did have an oil paintin from back in the day that showed this carpet and they had it remade. Kind of had the Christmas look to me. I'm just sayin.....

Photobucket

Here is the outside. I finally decided to show ya'll what it looked like in it's present day state.

Photobucket

And this is what it looks like with me standin in front of it! I know you curious onlookers wanted to see that! I stuck a feather in my hat and called it macarroni! Sure shootin Possum's!

Photobucket

And that's the News from Bubba's Sock Drawer! Nashville will never be the same after that! Bubba out Possum's!

The Farmers Market

Photobucket

Yes we're open Possum's! General Sock Lovers are welcome to come on in and look around! Todays adventure is brought to you by the letter X. There are some that say it 's brought to you by the letter o and the color green. What do I say Possum's? Ya'lls Bubba says it's brought to ya'll by the brown work sock! Hey! Ask for Bubba! We opened The Sock Drawer this mornin pretty early and headed on out to the Farmers Market in Nashville.

Photobucket

So Early there wasn't very many people around as of yet! The Farmers were just startin to set up their veggie wears and fruits of the weeks growin pattern of the south.

Photobucket

The Bar-B-Q had just been put put on the pit for the days customers. I meant the pig had been put on the pit. The Bar-B-Q is a result of puttin the pig on the pit! The neon light had just been turned on to start the day off. The coffee brewin as the aroma fills the air.

Photobucket

Now there's a good little Farmers market! That's what I'm talkin bout! Home grown tomatos!5 lbs. for $5.00! Cain't beat that as I loaded them into the back of the Bubba-mobile. They shore was good for supper! Had to wash the dirt plum off them! Fresh off the vine!

Photobucket
Photobucket

Photobucket

The cement woman quite agrees bout the tasty tomatos! She served them to her little cement children to night before. Her cement husband worked late. Someone had to hold the water jug drippin water into the fountain! Cement family came from miles around. Gardens everywhere were missin their fountain jug holders! But I think it's safe to say the grass got watered.

Photobucket

The Lions and I all took a vote and decided they would all live happily ever after!

Photobucket

Sure as the iron rooster crows! I have to say the Farmers market is quite the adventure!

Photobucket

Ya'll can folllow me on tweeter! LOL! I couldn't resist! Actually ya'll can only follow me here in Bubba's Sock Drawer.

Photobucket

They got all kind of stuff for your garden! But we won't talk bout that! Kind of a nasty subject with my Dad. Sssssshhhhh! Don't say it out loud!

Photobucket

Just look! Don't say anything!

Photobucket

As I sit by the ceramic mushrooms....It's time to close The Sock Drawer again on another day! Bubba
