Photobucket

Photobucket

The way I see it Possum's? One must view art on a full stomach! So off to the Golden coral I go! The food bar goes as far as the eye can see. I loaded up my plate with green beans, mashed potatos and baked chicken! A fresh lemon squeezed in my tea glass and I'm off and runnin with my fork to my mouth! A feelin of wonderment of what the day holds for the blog about to unfold and viewed art I would see. I've been told this art gallery is a sight to behold!

Photobucket

The old Franklin factory Possum's! A factory of long ago that has been transformed into the coolest art art show, sale and gallery in a factory of long ago! Love it when folks do these things.

Photobucket

My friend Savannah Jane and I checkin out the entrance to the place. Looks interesrtin enough.

Photobucket

Photobucket

The old stoves are what our eyes see upon enterin the factory. I think to myself...Wow! I like what I see!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Oooooouuuuuuu...shiney! And sparkley! Fancy as I wonder through this treasure trove of art work.

Photobucket

I stumble on a cracked door to an art studio. Ya'll know ole Bubba lookin into the crack and crevis! Maybe the behind the scenes isn't something I should be takin a peek at.

Photobucket

Photobucket

So I'm startin to see paintins on the walls and I'm sure there is lots more to come.

Photobucket

This one is a neet piece ya don't see everyday! I was savin this shot for my Labor Day blog, but it is to good to wait on! This flag is created from old bullets! They are painted for the Old Glory look. The scary part? Why would anyone have that many bullet shells layin around? Was it just a pile of them out in the barn and the artist was sittin around one day lookin at them and decided bullet flag them? Granted this country we can find old bullets everywhere! We can battle with the best of'em! The silver war, the confederate war and the like. I'm sure ya'll can catch my meanin! No? These bullets are much more modern. Perhaps huntin in the brush for a wild turkey to come along.

Photobucket

I guess I should mosey on along and see the other artist artwork. I can ponder the bullet trevia another time back home in the Sock Drawer.

Photobucket

Photobucket

And if ya'll remember the Carnton Plantation blog of last week, These oils are a pretty good look into the past of what it might have looked like back in the day.

Photobucket

Shall we dance Lady Red?

Photobucket

This is one of my favroites! I could deffinately see this hangin in my Sock Drawer! At least all their noses are in the right place unlike some artist we've heard of. Yes! Pun intended! I'm just joshin ya'll.

Photobucket

This one here is the second pile of bullets in the barn out back!

Photobucket

WOW! This place is the prettiest place to enjoy art!

Photobucket

Photobucket

I wondered where I would encounter the biggest rockin chair in the world! I guess my wonderin days are over on that concept! More time for bullet ponder!

Photobucket

Photobucket

I got culture ozzzin out my tattoo Possum's!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Over at the Dog House coffee shop ya'll can catch a glimps of gauitar art!

Photobucket
Well there ya have it Possum's! The greatest Americam adventure and remember ya'll saw it here first!

The Carnton Plantation

Photobucket

It started out like any other day, such as punchin holes in the walls...

Photobucket

And layin around on a pile of diamonds...You know how we celebrities do! Perhaps it was the results of to much coffee...one never knows how these days get started like this. I think one of my sharpest diamonds polked me in the head at somepoint and the idea occurred to me that a nice mornin out for breakfast at the....

Photobucket

Nashville biscuit house! I mean I can always punch holes and lay on diamonds another time. The sweet air of this piticular Friday mornin had fallen much like a nice fall day. A cool southern breeze lazily driftin by as the birds sing in the trees and sky. The blue sky with the cottonball white puffy clouds was simply callin for another adventure from Bubba's Sock Drawer! I had heard rumors of another plantation I had to get out and visit at some point. I think I heard someone mention it was out in Franklin,TN. Bein a celebrity Sock Monkey I am and not interested in another tabloid romp at the grocery store check out line....I decided this would be a better way to spend my day! What did old Bubba do Possum's? I gather up my coffee and an ice chest of my favorite diet cola and head for the plantation. I called my driver on my Iphone and ask him to bring the car around.

Photobucket

The Carnton Plantation was as pretty as you please as I view the front of the plantation house. Once owned by the McGavock family of the 1800's. This plantation hosted the battle of Franklin back in the day.

Photobucket

Photobucket

This is the back of the house.

Photobucket

Standin on the back porch, I could visualize the soutern ladies sittin about sippin their iced tea.Their hoop skirts blowin in the breeze. Call it a movie set if you will and you can almost hear the confederate gentlemen out on the lawn, dismountin their horses to come up and join the ladies on the porch. The Gone with the wind theme playin in my head catches Miss O'hara slappin captain Butler off to the side and out of anyones sight.

Photobucket

Photobucket

The confederate garden right off the back porch pretty as a picture. I stroll through the garden puttin on Sock Monkey airs to no one but the breeze.

Photobucket

The white flowers grow in a rowe next to the veggies. Harvest time now off in the not to distant future or past if you will. Stay with me Possum's! Do try and keep up. I learned that this plantation was actually the battle ground and the house turned into a hospital. The wooden floors still have blood stains present from the long surgeries of long ago.

Photobucket

The slave quarters off the other end of the porch and weavin house.

Photobucket

Photobucket

The loom still intact and housed here for a hundred years or so.

Photobucket

I'm sorry to say our tour guide "John" had to many tours to supply us with a photo of me and him together as I try and do for my day outtins. So imagine if you will a rather tall man with grayin hair tellin us the story of long ago. You can see the passion in his eyes of the history he was informin us about.

Photobucket

He told us that 10,000 men died here on the plantation and are buried here.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Many of the graves are unmarked as no one knows whom they were. The ones that have been Identified were found by relatives here in the present day and have had grave stone markers made and placed at their final restin place. Many of the soldiers carried journals and folks were able to make a list of whom the might have been and the list was complied of modern book form.

Photobucket

I wasn't suppose to take this picture of the inside of the house, but ya'll know my itchy camera finger.

Photobucket

And so I leave you with another adventure and to close The Sock Drawer on this another day trip. Bubba

The Cheatham county Fair

Photobucket

Good mornin Possum's! As ya'll probably guessed....Ole Bubba has been out and about again! Are ya'll scared? Well... you should be. Not really but it was fun to say to say the very least. Once again it was one of those lazy afternoons, sittin on the porch havin coffee and wonderin what's for supper. We all like The New South Grill so well... we decided to head back out to Ashland city for another fine dinin experience. This time I got a picture of their sign. The usual happened as we dined, talked and sipped ice tea. It wasn't until dessert and coffee portion of our meal that we all decided to head out to the Cheatham County fair. We had passed the sign on the way in to the Grill. Since Nashville has done away with their fair as of last year....It was the perfect way to spend an evenin and walk off the calories of the butterfinger cake we had just packed onto our hips and thighs. Not complainin mind you , but guilt never fails us. So sit back and light yourselves up a cigarette and I'll fill you in on the story.

Photobucket

We had gotten the directions from the locals that work at the Grill as to where we would find this fair. They were all to eager to help us with our mappin of the road ahead. So into the darkness as night had closed in all around us. I got excited as a Sock Monkey could be as we started seein the fair lights.

Photobucket

Oh yeah! The fair! Some go for the cotton candy, rides and corn dogs but the lights of those rides always gets me goin! The color of the lights makes my eyes roll back in my head and druel run down the sides of my mouth.

Photobucket

FUNNEL CAKE!!!!! Possum's! Can we talk here? I grab my hips and thighs as I walk past this booth. The butterfinger cake we had partook in earlier in the evenin...had me pushin the fat back so as no one could see it. I was able to walk past without lookin back on that note. The smell of them cookin was enough to sustain us. I simple won't think of the drippin chocolate, lovinly poured over the top and the powdered sugar sprinkled on top! By this time I was grittin my teeth at the very thought! Keep walkin little brown Sock Monkey!!!!

Photobucket

Just think of the lights and all the stress of not havin funnel cake will fade into the background of the fair.

Photobucket

This got us to the ferriswheel ride and we thought to ourselves...We could ride above the smell of the funnel cakes. Yeah! That's it! Of course when we were stopped way up high so the folks under us could get off the ride...The funnel cake smell rose up to us and we almost fell off! Is this a sugar addiction or what? My head went fuzzy as the dizziness and fadin to black started! Got to keep my wits about me and hold on! We are way up in the air!

Photobucket

The ferriswheel now behind me...I started just walkin around takin in more lights and smells of the fair envelope my head.

Photobucket

I found some local monkee buddies just hangin out. Keep it cool monkees! Join me Possum's as we continue on with our story of the fair!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Now this ia a small town and not as big as most state fairs. Never the less we did enjoy ourselves in the charm of it all.

Photobucket

Don't be an ass Possum's! LOL! Pun intended! Just a little Sock Drawer humor. Not meant to offend anyone by any means.

Photobucket

Ya'll know I love the exibits of the fairs I go to. And sittin on the shelf were two antique Sock Monkeys....dressed to the nines/ with a big old first place blue ribbon shashed across them! I all but peed myself! Yes! The charm of the Sock Monkey lives on! Need I say more?

Photobucket

LIGHTS!

Photobucket

RIDES! The fun of it all!!!

Photobucket

To finish the evenin off...is always the Carosel!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Savannah Jane bein goofy! I was on the horse in front of her.

Photobucket

It's time to close The Sock Drawer on another adventure! Bubba

Ashland City

Photobucket

Well howdy Possum's and general sock lovers! Got another adventure to report on. It all started one fine afternoon sittin on the porch havin coffee with a couple of friends. We were sittnin there talkin and thinkin it would be a nice afternoon to drive from Nashville to Ashland city in search of a small town restaraunt with to die for dinin. On the way We found this in the middle of no where Shell gas station. Had a few cool things to show ya'll! I was sittin there waitin on Andy and Barney...maybe Aunt Bea a possible Goober and little opey! Cool old police car from the 50's I think! It just screamed The Andy Griffin show!

Photobucket

Photobucket

The Shell station was workin it with the old trackers out on the front lawn. This was a fun little stop on the way to Ashland city. Asland city bein only a 20 minute drive from Nashville, it was a pleasent drive through the country and farmland. Beautiful state we have here! A far cry from my celeb status on the red carpet...You understand Possum's.

Photobucket

Did ya'll ever see a Shell station with a big old front porch with an antique gas pump a sittin on it!? Sometimes ya find the darnest things out in the middle of nowhere! It made the drive very enjoyible and a cute find!

Well as the story goes...We finally made it into Ashland City and just drove around a bit looking for the perfect "What's for supper? Place". We all took a vote and decided the New South grill! Neon sign out front statin the fact It was the New South Grill. It kinda caught our button eyes and we wondered inside for a bite to eat. The grill was nicely decorated with old black and white photos of the early days of Ashland City in it's historic way. The four of us ordered our meal and continued on with our frienly jokes and iced tea sippin and just havin a pleasent time and evenin. We didn't realize our food hadn't arrived for quite sometime. It wasn't long before our waitress came around and told us our food would be out shortly. She came around serveral times to tell us it would only be a short while longer. A few minutes later...the manager came over to our table and told us our ticket had fallen down behind the chefs table. These folks put the customer service back into customer service! I know Possum's, Most of us thought customer service was a thing of the past! Not in this case! The manager brought us another apetizer (we already had a plate of fried cheese apetizer) The second one was fresh fried mushrooms (chef prepared). Our food came and we had the most wonderful dinner one could mention! I'm here to say these chefs put the word food in food network! Our waitress was one of the nicest people you'd ever want to meet. Just so friendly! After our meal we contimplated about havin dessert. Butterfinger cake made from scratch! I teased the waitress and told her the manager said it was on the house. Little did we know she o.k.-ed it with the manger and we were suckin down butterfinger cake with a side of freshly brewed coffee! Butterfingers crumpled up on top! And as a reward for the bestest customer service ever!...We award them with their picture displayed proudly in The Sock Drawer. The gentleman on the left is the Manager of the New South Grill and the little lady next to him was our waitress!

Time to close Ths Sock Drawer! Bubba
