Labor Day

Greetins from the city of Nashville Possum's! Mike and I decided to head down town and walk about. Here I am at the walk of fame right across from the Conutry Music Hall of Fame.



A bright brisk cool mornin. Made for a great day for a walk in town.



Celebratin Labor Day I took the time to stop and smell the roses. Ain't that's what it's all about?




Here is the famous Batman buildin. Mike and I can see it from our backyard.


Pardon me while I take care of some business.



We walked around the streets of the city just so ya'll could see what's what.







Here we are at the Nashville symphony house! Pretty buildin!



This here is the Shelby bridge. It's a bridge ya'll can bike or walk across.

Good afternoon Possum's, Peeps and general Sock Monkey lovers, Sock Salutations from the Cheekwood botanical Garden of Nashville! Boy did I get the shock of my life! Mike and I went to see the Scarecrow exibit in the garden. When we got up to the desk to pay for our entry fee, we were told the Scarecrows would not make an appearance in the gardens this year! WHAT!!!!!? Instead we got a great adventure to another exsibit. Chihully neon sculptures in the garden. The one you see above weighs 4600 lbs.


I'm here ta tell ya Possum's, that neon was stuck in places ya never thought ya'll would see neon before. And quite beautiful if ya'll ask me. We should have gone at night to see it all lit up!





My favorite ones were the pointy ones! Looks really cool!





They had them in the ponds and I bet they look mighty pretty when their lit on the water at night!



This boat full of neon was pretty cool!



Then onto the Japneese garden for more sculpture fun!


I don't think I have ever seen round ball neon before.



Little tiny waterfalls here and there. I wanted to dip my toesies in but Mike gave me that look your Mother use to give you when you thought you were gonna die when ya'll got home!



More neon in the foilage. Blue and green make a pretty combo!

This one was in a fountain at the mansion that is on the grounds and part of your entry fee to tour.




It was a wonderful thing to tour the gardens this afternoon.



Ya'll know I couldn't resist! Mike's face turn three shades of red on that one! I wasn't really payin attention but I think his feet turned purple as well.



The bubble thingeys in the water was really cool!



I wanted to dip my head under this one,but Mike was livid! Plum jerked me up by the ear and off we went to see more neon!

The fallin leaf

Hello little fallen leaf! I see your followin fall time tradition by fallin off your tree. Welcome to fall time little leaf. I see your still green and not the usual fall time colors yet. All in good time my pretty! enjoy the warmness of the sidewalk for just a bit. Your the first of a long line of leaves that will grace my sidewalk. It's all good. Bubba

We are goin down into the 50's this weekend!!! Wow! Fall has finally walked in the door and I introduced fall time to my Oscar Mayer weiner whistles.Makes ones stuffin go all warm and fuzzy inside. Sounds like a soup weekend. Cup of Campbell's finest never hurt anyone! Just don't step in doggie poop on the way to the car!!! May the blue bird of happiness crap on your windsheild. Just kiddin Possum's. The sun is comin up over the Hard rock cafe guitar! It'll make your Nashville button eyes water up mighty fast! May the beauty and splendor of fall time grace ya'lls doorstep! Good morning blog readers! Bubba is out on a photo shoot and I thought I'd tell you a little about how Bubba and I came together. My name is Mike and I am his Human. We have been together about 20 years. I had always wanted to do such a blog and didn't know quite what to use. So one afternoon while walking through a flea market in Kennesaw Georgia,I spotted my Bubba hanging from the ceiling! I had long since forgotten about Sock monkeys and was so excited to find him there. With a 6.00 price tag on him I knew that monkey had to come home with me! He was in pretty bad shape since he is and was original from the 1960's. I carefully brought him home and pretty much gave him a face and body lift. I resewed everything on him and bought eyes (buttons) for him at the local walmart. I love folkart,so he was right up my alley! And now you ask? He will be featured in the second book "Everthing keeps coming up Sock Monkeys." I collected Sock MOnkeys for a while,but then the collection got so big I had to sale them off on ebay. I have done a web site for him once upon a time,but no longer exist and now pretty much just do this blog with him. I have to admit coming up with ideas is the hardest part ever. I always have scraps of paper on me with ideas written on them. I do that cause the ideas come to me throughout the day. The funniest thing I think I ever did with him was a fellow Sock Monkey lover with her web site of her Sock Monkey Lives out in Hollywood. I emailed her one day and ask her if she lived close to the Hollywood sign. She said she did and I ask her if I could mail him out and get his picture made with the Hollywood sign. She was glad to do it. I packged his Sock Monkey butt up and off he went. Bubba went to Hollywood! The one thing I haven't done is go to the Sock Monkey festival in Rockford ILL. they have every Spring. It is a dream of mine. I know many of the other Sock Monkey folks that attend,but we have never met in person. As the story goes it's always the funds that keep us from attending such a Gayla affair. Sometimes it's the silly things that make life fun. God bless all you guys and go play with your Sock Monkey already! Mike

Good Thursday mornin Possum's! Here I am at mermaid ringside this mornin,maybe the result of to much coffee,but who's complainin? She'll jump back into the ocean soon enough.
Earl is headed for the East coast! There he blows! Just gonna turn into a tropical storm.
The Cheekwood scarecrows will be out in the garden startin Sunday. Don't know if Mike will feel up to goin,but I sure hope he does. Have a great day!!! Bubba

It's Wednesday mornin! It's Wednesday mornin! Mid week Possum's!! And off to the coffee pot I go!! Got ta have a cup of Joe to start the day off right. The sun is shinin and the leaves are tryin ta fall. September has graced us with her presence and is a welcome sight. Fall is on it's way...Fall is on it's way Fall is on it's way!
